AI Assist is Hygraph's intelligent in-editor content assistant. It helps editors generate, improve, and translate content directly within the content entry experience, without needing to leave the editor or rely on developer support.
Instead of switching between tools or writing content from scratch, editors describe what they need and AI Assist produces schema-aware suggestions that fit the field type, locale, and surrounding content. All suggestions are reviewed and applied by the editor, so teams stay in full control of what goes into their content.

#Create content
The Create content task generates new content for empty fields based on a short prompt. AI Assist analyzes the field type and entry context to produce suggestions that fit your content model. This is useful when starting a new entry or filling multiple empty fields at once.
#Improve existing content
The Improve existing content task refines existing text for clarity, tone, and readability. AI Assist analyzes the selected fields and suggests enhanced versions while preserving the original meaning. This is useful when reviewing drafts or polishing content before publishing.
#Translate content
The Translate content task converts existing text into one or more target locales while preserving tone, structure, and meaning. AI Assist recognizes your project's locale setup and accepts optional prompt guidance for regional style. This is useful for maintaining consistent messaging across multiple languages without leaving the editor.

AI Assist works with single line text, multi line text, markdown, and rich text fields. Other field types are not shown in the field selector.
#Permissions
AI Assist is available to all users with editor access on the project. No additional role configuration is required.

#Availability and token usage
AI Assist is available on all Hygraph plans, with usage limits based on your plan tier. Each project receives a set number of AI tokens per billing period.

Hygraph uses the latest Claude models to power AI Assist tasks, including content creation, improvement, and translation. These models are selected for their quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Model versions may be updated over time as newer releases become available. Updates are applied automatically to maintain optimal results.

#Safety guardrails
AI Assist is designed to support editors, not act independently. The following guardrails ensure editorial control is always maintained:
- All suggestions are shown in a review panel before being applied. Nothing is written to an entry without editor approval.
- AI Assist only operates on fields you explicitly select for a given task.
- AI Assist cannot publish entries, modify schema, or perform any action outside the content editing panel.
- Applied changes are saved like any manual edit and can be further modified or reverted.
