Frequently Asked Questions

Live Preview Feature

What is the Live Preview feature in Hygraph Studio?

Live Preview is a feature in Hygraph Studio that allows editors to visualize content changes in real-time, side-by-side with the editing form. This enables users to add, preview, edit, and save content in one workflow, reducing errors and increasing confidence before publishing. Note: Live Preview is only available in Hygraph Studio; enterprise customers using Hygraph Classic will need to switch to access this feature. Learn more in the documentation.

How do I set up Live Preview in Hygraph Studio?

To set up Live Preview, you need to add a preview widget to your schema and configure a frontend for preview. Once configured, you can access Live Previews from the right sidebar and choose the environment you want to preview in. The preview appears to the right of the content form, and changes are reflected after you save. You can also open the preview in a new tab or share the preview link for review. For step-by-step instructions, see the Live Preview documentation. Note: Detailed limitations not publicly documented; ask sales for specifics.

How is Live Preview different from Content Previews in Hygraph Classic?

In Hygraph Classic, content previews require opening a new tab, which can slow down workflows and make error correction more challenging. Live Preview in Hygraph Studio displays the editing form and preview side-by-side, allowing for faster editing and review. It also retains the ability to open previews in a new tab or share links. Note: Live Preview is not available in Hygraph Classic; users must migrate to Studio for this functionality.

What improvements are planned for Live Preview?

Upcoming improvements to Live Preview include an Inspector Mode, which will let editors hover over the preview pane to quickly locate areas to edit, and the ability to view previews across different devices. These enhancements are designed to further streamline editorial workflows. Note: Release dates for these features are not specified; check the Hygraph blog for updates.

#How is the new feature different from existing Content Previews (Classic)?

In our existing preview capabilities, you need to open the preview in a new tab, which takes more time, and locating and fixing errors is generally more challenging.

On the other hand, the new Live Preview feature shows the editing form and the preview side-by-side. It also allows you to open the preview in a new tab, essentially providing more capabilities than our existing previews.

These improvements, alongside the capabilities added to Hygraph Studio, align with our aim to continuously roll out a range of features designed to enhance editors' productivity.
